VIC Severe Weather Warning: Damaging Winds

For people in the Northern Country, North Central, Central, West and South Gippsland and North East forecast districts

Issued at 3:45 pm EDT on Sunday 5 February 2012.
Weather Situation

A low pressure trough over central Victoria will move through eastern Victoria this evening. Northerly winds will shift gusty west to southwesterly to the west of the trough.

Damaging winds averaging 50 km/h with peak gusts around 90 km/h are forecast for the North Central, Central and West and South Gippsland forecast districts and parts of the Northern Country and North East forecast districts. Winds should ease this evening.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
Keep clear of fallen power lines.
