MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE FROM TUESDAY IN THE SOUTH COAST AND SNOWY RIVER.

Heavy rainfall was observed during Monday into Tuesday, around the south coast.

Heavy rain is expected to continue during Tuesday, with showers and thunderstorms associated with a trough lying near the south coast. This trough will weaken and move into the Tasman Sea during Wednesday, with heavy rain easing.

Catchments have seen recent rainfall in the last week and are moderately wet on the ranges, drier on the south west slopes.

A Flood Watch is current in Victoria for the Snowy River.

The weather system is expected to cause flooding for the catchments listed from Tuesday into Wednesday. Flood Classes (minor, moderate, major) are only defined for catchments where the Bureau provides a flood warning service.

A Flood Warning is current for the Bega River.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

Moruya and Deua Riversminor flooding
Tuross River
Towamba River
Snowy Riverminor flooding

Flooding is no longer expected in the following catchments: Upper Murray and Mitta Mitta Rivers, Tumut River, Queanbeyan and Molonglo Rivers.

This Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers and streams must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding develop.

Flood Warnings will be issued if Minor Flood Level is expected to be exceeded at key sites along the main rivers for which the Bureau of Meteorology provides a flood warning service.

Severe Weather Warnings will be issued or updated if very heavy rain is forecast or observed.
