This Watch and Act message is being issued for Addington, Brewster, Burrumbeet, Ercildoune, Glenbrae, Lexton, Trawalla, Waubra, Weatherboard.

There is a bushfire at Bayindeen-Rocky Road that is not yet under control.
The bushfire is travelling from Bayindeen-Rocky Road in a south-easterly direction.
Spot fires and embers are starting fires ahead of the main fire front.
This Watch and Act replaces the advice message issued at 1pm.

Don't wait, leaving now is the safest option - conditions may change and get worse very quickly. Emergency services may not be able to help you if you decide to stay.
If you are not prepared, you should leave now.
By choosing to stay, you and your family may be at risk of serious injury or death.

What you should do:

Monitor changes to the situation. Increased wind speed, change in wind direction, smoke or poor visibility can indicate the situation is changing.
Protect yourself and your family.
If you are away from home, do not return.

If the situation changes or you feel unsafe you should leave:

Take your pets, medications, mobile phone and charger.
Many people have died trying to leave at the last minute during fires.
Travel to the home of family or friends that are away from the warning area.
A Community Relief Centre is located at CE Brown Reserve 236-298 Dowling Street Wendouree.
If you are currently driving slow down and turn on your headlights. Smoke will make it difficult to see.
Defending a house requires: At least two fit and determined adults who are physically and mentally prepared to work long and hard in arduous and difficult conditions. At least 10,000 litres of water (not from mains supply which can fail during a fire). Protective clothing. Appropriate firefighting hoses and pumps.

Bushfires can spread quickly and are extremely dangerous.
Bushfires can start spot fires and embers can travel large distances ahead of the main fire.
The Western Highway is closed Northwest of Ballarat at the intersection of Western Highway and Sunraysia Highway to traffic heading in a Westerly direction towards Beaufort.
Western Highway Ararat at roundabout east of township.
Intersection of Beaufort Lexton Road and Blackbottom Road Lexton.
Skipton Road south of Western highway.
