Posted:07/09/2019 06:22

A bush fire is burning north of Ebor. The fire is currently more than 20,550 hectares and is out of control.

Current Situation

The fire continues to burn north of Ebor, along Armidale Road and in the vicinity of Marengo Road.

A strong south westerly wind change moved across the fireground overnight that increased fire activity.

The fire is now moving in a north easterly direction towards Tyringham, Merengo, Hernani, Meldrum and Dundarrabin.

Embers may be blown well ahead of the main fire front creating spot fires. These can threaten properties well ahead of the main fire front arriving.

Crews are working to protect properties along Marengo Rd, Armidale Rd and Harness Cask Rd.

Smoke from this fire may be affecting the areas of Dorrigo and Coffs Harbour.

Residents of Tyringham, Merengo, Hernani, Meldrum and Dundarrabin should seek shelter as the fire approaches.

Take shelter in a solid structure when the fire front arrives. Protect yourself from the heat of the fire.

After the fire front has passed patrol your property and extinguish any spot fires.

If you are caught in the path of the fire, you may die or be injured.
