EMERGENCY WARNING - Bills Crossing Crowdy (Mid-Coast LGA)

A large bush fire is burning in the Crowdy Bay National Park. The fire is more than 11,700 hectares and is being controlled.

Current Situation

The fire is burning in the John River State Forest and the Johns River area.

Fire is impacting on the area of Johns River.

Crowdy Head Road remains closed.

Advice

If you are in the area of Johns River, seek shelter as the fire approaches. Protect yourself from the heat of the fire by sheltering in a solid structure.

Check and follow your Bush Fire Survival Plan. If you do not have a plan, decide what you will do if the situation changes. Leaving early is your safest option.

Diamond Head camping area is closed.

Kylies Beach is currently closed.

Other Information

Evacuation Centres have been opened in Club Taree (121 Wingham Road, Taree) and Tuncurry Bowling Club (21 Parkes Street, Tuncurry). People are encouraged to register online at Register Find Reunite https://register.redcross.org.au before attending the evacuation centre.
