Emergency Warning - Mount Mackenzie Rd, Tenterfield (Tenterfield LGA)

A bush fire is burning in the area around Mount Mackenzie Road, Tenterfield. The fire has burnt more than 1,400 hectares and is currently out of control.

Current Situation

A bush fire is burning in the Mount Mackenzie Road area, on the southern outskirts of Tenterfield.

A strong wind change moved through the area overnight. The firehas moved to the north east towards Billirimba Road and the Bruxner Highway.

The Bruxner Highway is currently open but may be affected by smoke.

Advice

It is too late to leave. Residents should seek shelter as the fire approaches. Protect yourself from the heat of the fire.

An Evacuation Centre has been established at the Tenterfield Showgrounds, 62 Miles St, Tenterfield. It will open on Saturday 7 September from 07:00hrs to 23:00hrs.
