A bush fire is burning in the vicinity of Lake Innes, Port Macquarie. The fire is more than 700 hectares in size and is being controlled.

Current Situation

The fire is burning in the vicinity of Lake Innes, south of Port Macquarie.

The fire also continues to burn on the eastern side of the Lake, south of Port Macquarie and the Brierley community.

Strong north easterly winds are blowing smoke and embers to the south and western sides of Lake towards Lake Innes and Lake Cathie.

Firefighters are working to slow the spread of the fire and extinguish spot fires that may start well ahead of the main fire.

Advice

Residents of Lake Cathie, Bonny Hills and Lake Innes should put your bush fire survival plan into action now.

Be alert for burning embers that may impact your property well before the main fire arrives. These embers can create spot fires and threaten property.

If you do not have a plan, decide what you will do if the situation changes. Leaving early is your safest option.
