A fast moving bush fire is burning in the Emmaville and Stannum areas. The fire is more than 63,000 hectares in size and is being controlled.

Current Situation

The fire breached containment lines and is burning on multiple fronts.
There is fire activity near properties along Emmaville Road, south of Torrington.
Firefighters are getting the upper hand on this fire and will continue to consolidate and strengthen containment lines.

If you are in the area of Emmaville, Stannum and Deepwater, monitor conditions. Be aware of smoke and embers.
What you need to do

Monitor conditions.
Enact your bush fire survival plan and know what you will do if threatened by fire.
Follow advice from firefighters in the area.
If you are threatened by fire

Do not be in the path of the fire.
Protect yourself from the heat of the fire. Wear protective clothing and footwear. Cover all exposed skin.
If the fire impacts, seek shelter in a solid structure to protect yourself from the heat of the fire.
If your life is at risk, call Triple Zero.
