A bush fire is burning in the area of Hillville, south of Taree, and is spreading quickly. The fire is more than 19,000 hectares in size and is out of control.

Current Situation

The fire is burning in a north and easterly direction in the area of Hillville, south of Taree.

The fire is burning in the Tinonee, Purfleet, Possum Brush, Pipeclay Creek, Old Soldiers Road, Tallwoods and Diamond Beach area.

As crews conduct back burning operations, people in the area may see an increase in fire activity.

Advice

If you are in the area of Old Bar, Wallabi Point, South Taree, Tallwoods Village, Tinonee, Purfleet, Diamond Beach and Hillville, Possum Brush, put your bush fire survival plan into action. If you do not have a bush fire survival plan, know what you will do if the fire threatens.

If you are in the area of Rainbow Flat and Hallidays Point, continue to monitor conditions.

Evacuation Centres and School Closures

Evacuation centres open today Monday 11 November are: Club Taree; Wauchope High School ( Wauchope Showground for animals); Laurieton United Services Club; Kempsey Showground; Kempsey Macleay RSL Club; Anglican Church Bowraville; Grafton Community Centre; Coraki Bowling Club; Nimbin Showground. The Evacuation centre at the Old Bar Club is closed.
People are encouraged to register online at Register Find Reunite before attending evacuation centres.

Worsening weather conditions on Tuesday 12 November 2019 will see areas across the state with severe, extreme and catastrophic fire danger. These are very dangerous conditions. Visit the NSW RFS website for more details.
