Watch and Act - Tingha Plateau (Inverell LGA)

A bush fire is burning in the Tingha Plateau Copeton area. The fire has burnt more than 300 hectares and is not under control.

Current Situation:
A bush fire is burning to the east of Lake Copeton. The fire is burning in an easterly direction towards Thunderbolts Way.

Fire activity is increasing. Firefighters and aircraft, including a Large Air Tanker, are working to slow the spread of the fire.

High temperatures and strong winds are forecast for today which may push the fire towards Tingha. Properties between Lake Copeton and Tingha may come under threat today.

Advice

If you are in areas around Lake Copeton, Tingha, Gilgai, monitor conditions. Ensure you know what you'll do if a fire reaches your property or location.

Thunderbolts Way and Bundarra Road are currently open however they may be closed throughout the day.

Check and follow your Bush Fire Survival Plan. If you do not have a plan, decide what you will do if the situation changes. Leaving early is your safest option.

There is a statewide Total Fire Ban in NSW today.
