Bushfire warning level: WATCH AND ACT

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) advises there is a bushfire in Lamington National Park travelling towards Sarabah and conditions could get worse.

You need to be ready to follow your bushfire survival plan. If you do not have a plan, or intend to leave, you should be ready to leave the area because the situation could get worse quickly.

Currently as at 11.40am Friday 13 September a large bushfire is travelling in a north-westerly direction from Pyramid Creek in Lamington National Park towards Lamington National Park Road, Sarabah. The fire is likely to impact Lamington National Park Road, north of Kamarun Lookout Road and Sarabah Road.

Fire crews are working to contain the fire but firefighters may not be able to protect every property. You should not expect a firefighter at your door.

Residents leaving the area should head north along Lamington National Park Rd to Moriarty Park, Coburg Road, Canungra.

A separate bushfire warning applies to residents of O'Reilly and Cainbable. These residents should refer to the Advice (Stay Informed) for O'Reilly and Cainbable bushfire (part of the Sarabah bushfire).

People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality.

Call Triple Zero (000) immediately if you believe your property is under threat.
