Weather Situation
Severe fire dangers are forecast for the Gulf Country and Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders districts for the rest of today, and for the Gulf Country on Monday.

Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds will persist through northern and western Queensland today and on Monday, as a ridge of high pressure builds from the south. These fresh winds will combine with a hot and dry air mass, leading to Severe fire dangers in the Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders on Sunday. Severe fire dangers will contract to the Gulf Country on Monday as onshore winds return modest moisture across the east coast and tropical interior.
