Weather Situation
Hot, dry and gusty west to southwesterly winds are expected to maintain Severe fire danger in the Darling Downs and Granite Belt for the next few hours.

On Sunday stronger and drier southwesterly winds are expected to create Extreme fire danger in the Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Severe fire danger in the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Maranoa and Warrego, and Southeast Coast Districts.

On Sunday thunderstorms are likely in the southeast, possibly severe, bringing the risk of lightning as an ignition source for new fires as well as gusty and erratic winds.
