For people in Gulf Country and parts of Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders Forecast Districts.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the next several hours in the Gulf Country and parts of the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders districts. Locations which may be affected include Burketown, Normanton, Doomadgee, Croydon, Karumba and Augustus Downs Station.

Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the North West, Central West, Channel Country and Maranoa and Warrego districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.

An 87km/h gust was recorded at Winton at 3.30pm, a 98km/h gust was recorded at Longreach at 4.35pm, and a 91km/h gust was recorded at Richmond at 7:17pm.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
