Squally winds over the central and eastern ranges.

Strong and gusty northerly winds developing Friday night over elevated areas.

Winds about central and western parts have eased this morning.

DAMAGING NORTHERLY WINDS, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of around 90 km/h are possible about elevated parts of CENTRAL and EASTERN Victoria late FRIDAY NIGHT into Saturday morning. Gusts may reach 110 km/h over Alpine areas (above 1200 metres).

Winds are expected to ease across central Victoria SATURDAY morning and eastern Victoria during Saturday afternoon.

Locations which may be affected include Kyneton, Ballarat, Daylesford, Falls Creek, Mt Hotham and Mt Buller.

Severe weather is no longer occurring in the South West district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony;
* Keep clear of fallen power lines;
