Westerly winds strengthening during Saturday.
Weather Situation: A front embedded in a vigorous west to
southwesterly airstream will cross Victoria today.
DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 50 to 60 km/h with peak gusts of around
90 km/h are forecast to develop across southern parts of Victoria
this afternoon then extend to elevated areas (above 1200 metres) of
the eastern ranges and far East Gippsland by the early
evening.
DAMAGING WINDS are expected to ease across western parts of the
warning area during the
early evening and through central areas before midnight.
Locations which may be affected include Warrnambool, Geelong,
Wonthaggi, Frankston, Mt Baw Baw and Mt Buller.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and
balcony;
* Keep clear of fallen power lines;
