Flood Watch Number: 1
MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE IN PARTS OF THE HAWKESBURY-NEPEAN FROM
OVERNIGHT FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY
A trough near the NSW coast is expected to deepen during Friday,
bringing enhanced rainfall to the Central Coast, including the
Hawkesbury Nepean Valley. This may cause minor flooding in parts of
the Hawkesbury and Nepean catchments from overnight Friday into
Saturday.
Catchments across the Hawkesbury Nepean Valley are around average
wetness for this time of year, but wetting up slightly following
rainfall over the last week.
Widespread moderate rainfall totals are likely about the upper
catchments during Friday afternoon and evening, with localised
heavy falls possible. Rainfall during Saturday morning may extend
more broadly across the Hawkesbury Nepean Valley, with widespread
moderate rainfall likely and local heavy falls possible.
The weather system may cause minor flooding in parts of the
catchments listed from overnight Friday into Saturday. Flood
Classes (minor, moderate, major) are only defined for catchments
where the Bureau provides a flood warning service.
Catchments likely to be affected include:
Upper Nepean River
minor flooding
Hawkesbury and Lower Nepean Rivers
minor flooding
Upper Coxs River
Colo River
minor flooding
Macdonald River
