MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE ACROSS THE FLOOD WATCH AREA FROM TUESDAY

A series of troughs are expected to enter New South Wales during Monday and Tuesday. This system is expected to bring showers and thunderstorms across the inland of the state from late Monday into Tuesday. Forecast rainfall may cause minor flooding in the Flood Watch area from Tuesday.

Catchments across parts of the South West ranges are relatively wet from recent rainfall.

There is some degree of uncertainty over the exact location and timing of the heaviest falls. Catchment specific flood warnings will be issued if and when required.

This weather system has the potential to cause minor flooding in the Flood Watch area from Tuesday. Flood Classes (minor, moderate, major) are only defined for catchments where the Bureau provides a flood warning service.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

Belubula Riverminor flooding

Mandagery Creekminor flooding

Tumut Riverminor flooding

Murrumbidgee River to Wagga Waggaminor flooding

Upper Murray and Mitta Mitta Riversminor flooding

Flood warnings are current for Paroo, Warrego and Barwon Rivers.

This Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers and streams must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding develop.

Flood Warnings will be issued if Minor Flood Level is expected to be exceeded at key sites along the main rivers for which the Bureau of Meteorology provides a flood warning service.

Severe Weather Warnings will be issued or updated if very heavy rain is forecast or observed.
