FLOODING IS POSSIBLE IN SETTLEMENT CREEK, NICHOLSON RIVER,
GEORGINA RIVER AND EYRE CREEK
A tropical low (ex-Tropical Cyclone Kirrily) is expected to be
slow moving near the northwest Queensland coast today and Friday
morning, before it starts to move southwards in Queensland near the
Northern Territory border from Friday afternoon and during the
weekend.
The most significant rainfall totals are expected to follow the
movement of the low and may extend westwards from Queensland and
into the Northern Territory.
Significant river and stream rises are possible with heavy
rainfall across the Flood Watch area during this week.
Many roads, and possibly primary and secondary highways may be
affected. Some communities and homesteads may become isolated.
Check road conditions before travelling.
Catchments likely to be affected include:
Settlement Creek
Nicholson River
Georgina River and Eyre Creek
