Flood Watch Number: 16

FLOODING OCCURRING IN PARTS OF FLOOD WATCH AREA WITH FURTHER FLOODING POSSIBLE

A tropical low over the far northern Gregory District will move slowly towards
the Kimberley during Friday and Saturday, within a broad trough of low
pressure. A trough is forecast to deepen over south west Northern Territory
during Sunday or Monday. This system is expected to generate widespread
rainfall, which may be heavy, across the eastern Kimberley, Victoria River and
parts of Sturt Creek District catchments from Friday, extending to parts of
Central and Western Inland areas during the weekend.

Catchments in the Flood Watch area are wet from recent rainfall. Forecast
rainfall may cause further significant water level rises in rivers and creeks,
as well as prolonged overland flooding and ponding.

Roads may become impassable. Some communities and homesteads may become
isolated. Check road conditions before travelling.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

East Kimberley Rivers

Upper Victoria River (Minor flood warning current)

Victoria River below Kalkarindji (Flood warning current)

Fitzmaurice River

Moyle River

Katherine River (Minor flood warning current)

Daly River above Douglas River

Lower Daly River (Major flood warning current)

Waterhouse River

Roper River

Finke River and Stephenson Creek

MacDonnell Ranges

Sturt Creek District

Western Desert
