RIVER LEVEL RISES AND FLOODING POSSIBLE ACROSS THE FLOOD WATCH
AREA
A tropical low over the Gregory District is expected to move
westwards and into Western Australia by Wednesday evening, and
extend a trough through the base of the Top End. A broad area of
low pressure persists over most of the Territory for the rest of
the week, maintaining showers and thunderstorms, with the risk of
localised heavy falls.
Catchments are moderately wet to saturated in the Flood Watch area
after recent rainfall.
River level rises, localised flooding, and overland inundation are
possible in parts of the Flood Watch area, which may affect road
access. Some communities may become isolated. Check road conditions
before travelling.
Catchments likely to be affected include:
Upper Victoria River
Victoria River below Kalkarindji
Katherine River
(minor flood warning current for Nitmiluk Centre)
Waterhouse River
Sturt Creek District
Tanami Desert
(rainfall expected in northern parts of the district)
Barkly
(rainfall expected in northern parts of the district)
Flood warnings are current for the following catchment(s) :
Katherine and Daly
Flooding is no longer expected in the following catchment(s):
Fitzmaurice, Moyle, Finniss and Upper Adelaide
