HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL AND DAMAGING WIND GUSTS CONTINUE
AS EX-TC LINCOLN MOVES WEST.
Weather Situation: Ex-Tropical Cyclone Lincoln is located around
120 km to the west southwest of Elliott and is moving west across
central parts of the Northern Territory during Sunday and will
approach the West Australian border during Monday morning.
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is forecast for
the western Barkly, northern Tanami and southern Gregory Districts
during Sunday and continuing into Monday. Six-hourly rainfall
totals between 60 to 100 mm and 24-hourly rainfall totals between
80 to 140 mm are likely.
Locally INTENSE RAINFALL which may lead to DANGEROUS AND
LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING is also possible later on Sunday
evening and Monday morning with six-hourly rainfall totals up to
150 mm near the centre and southern side of the low. 24-hourly
rainfall totals up to 220 mm are also possible. A separate Severe
Thunderstorm Warning will be issued if very dangerous thunderstorms
with intense rainfall are detected.
Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of
about 90 km/h are possible in thunderstorms within the warning
area.
Severe weather is likely to ease through the Barkly district
during Monday afternoon.

Locations which may be affected include Lajamanu, Rabbit Flat,
Supplejack Downs, Barkly District west of Tennant Creek and Gregory
District west of Daguragu.
Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Simpson district and
the warning for this district is CANCELLED.
138.4 mm was recorded at Tennant Creek in the 24 hours to 9:00 am
Sunday.
The Northern Territory Emergency Service advises that people
should:
* secure loose outside objects and seek shelter when conditions
deteriorate
* pull over if it is raining heavily and you cannot see, park with
your hazard lights on until the rain clears
* avoid driving into water of unknown depth and current
* create your own sandbags if there is flooding, by using pillow
cases or shopping bags filled with sand and place them around
doorways to protect your home
* stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and
waterways
* ensure pets and animals are safe
* be prepared in case of power outages, have an emergency kit with
a radio, torch, spare batteries and first aid kit
