VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS IMPACTING PARTS OF THE NORTH EAST
PASTORAL.
Weather Situation: A low-pressure system combines with an
approaching upper-level low resulting in an elevated risk of severe
thunderstorms across central-eastern South Australia today.
VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS are likely to produce large, possibly
giant hailstones, damaging, locally destructive winds and heavy
rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several
hours in parts of the North East Pastoral district. Locations which
may be affected include the area east of Lake Frome and the
Strzelecki Track south of Moomba.
Other severe thunderstorms are likely to produce large hailstones,
damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding
over the next several hours in parts of the North East Pastoral and
Flinders districts. Locations which may be affected include Moomba,
Arkaroola, Olary, the area east of Lake Frome, Mungeranie on the
Birdsville Track and the Strzelecki Track south of Moomba.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Move cars under cover or away from trees.
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby.
