Damaging winds to continue over the Lower South East today.
Weather Situation: A vigorous cold front has crossed southeastern
parts of the state this morning leaving a damaging northwesterly to
westerly flow in its wake affecting parts of the Lower South East
district. The coastal fringe is expected to continue to see the
strongest winds, but damaging winds remain possible further inland
associated with showers.
For the COASTAL FRINGE: DAMAGING WINDS averaging 55 to 65 km/h
with peak gusts around 90 km/h are likely today.
For the REMAINDER OF THE WARNING AREA including MOUNT GAMBIER:
DAMAGING WIND GUSTS with peak gusts around 90 km/h are possible
today.
Winds are expected to ease below warning thresholds throughout the
warning area by mid-afternoon.
Locations which may be affected include Mount Gambier, Robe and
Millicent.
Significant wind observations to 10:30 am ACDT include:
91 km/h wind gust was recorded at Coonawarra at 7:54 am.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are
severe.
