Heavy rainfall in the southeast with POSSIBLE INTENSE RAINFALL
BETWEEN BOONAH AND IPSWICH
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 7:15 pm, a VERY DANGEROUS
THUNDERSTORM likely to produce intense rainfall that may lead to
dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding was detected near the
area between Boonah and Beaudesert and Peak Crossing. This
thunderstorm is moving towards the northeast. It is forecast to
affect Bundamba Lagoon by 7:45 pm and Jimboomba and Greenbank by
8:15 pm.
Other severe thunderstorms likely to produce heavy rainfall that
may lead to flash flooding were detected near the area west of
Kilcoy, Linville and Kooralbyn. These thunderstorms are moving
towards the east to northeast. They are forecast to affect
Beaudesert, Kilcoy and Jimna by 7:45 pm and Conondale, Kenilworth
and Borumba Dam by 8:15 pm.
Spicers Peak recorded 77mm in the 1 hour to 6:34pm
Eskdale recorded 46m in the 30 minutes to 6:07pm
Toohills Crossing recorded 59mm in the 30 minutes to 7:09pm
Tarome recorded 54mm in the 30 minutes to 7:05pm
Emergency services advise people to:
* If you have children make sure they are with you or an adult you
trust.
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger
asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes
out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be
identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are
dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has
passed
