INTENSE RAINFALL LIKELY ABOUT SAMFORD

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 3:35 pm, a VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORM likely to produce heavy, locally intense rainfall that may lead to dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding was detected near Albany Creek and Lake Samsonvale. This thunderstorm is moving towards the northwest. It is forecast to affect Mount Nebo and Dayboro by 4:05 pm and the D'Aguilar Ranges by 4:35 pm.

Other severe thunderstorms likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near the area southwest of Kingaroy. They are forecast to affect Mt Mowbullan by 4:05 pm.

53 mm of rainfall recorded at Samford Valley in the 30 minutes to 3:22 pm.

49 mm of rainfall recorded at Romani in the 30 minutes to 1:35 pm.

Emergency services advise people to:
* If you have children make sure they are with you or an adult you trust.
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
