Flood Watch Number: 3

MINOR FLOODING LIKELY, WITH ISOLATED MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE ACROSS THE FLOOD WATCH AREA FOR THE REMAINDER OF SUNDAY INTO MONDAY

A low pressure system to the west of Tasmania has brought heavy rainfall to eastern and northern Tasmania overnight, with further showers expected to develop across northern Tasmania on sunday afternoon and evening.

This additional rainfall may cause increased river level flows across northern catchments.

Catchments across Tasmania are relatively wet following recent rainfall, and catchments may react quickly to further rainfall.

Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected across the Flood Watch area, with higher rainfall totals possible particularly about elevated locations.

Minor flooding is likely throughout the Flood Watch area from Sunday, with isolated moderate flooding possible.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

Meander River

Macquarie River

East Coastal Rivers (north of Bicheno)

Ringarooma River

North Coastal Rivers

Tamar (Launceston)

Mersey River

Forth River

Northwest and Central Coastal Rivers

Arthur River

Nelson Bay Coastal Rivers

Pieman River

Flood Warnings are current for the North and South Esk Rivers, the River Ouse and the River Clyde.Flooding is no longer expected along the River Derwent and the Jordan and Coal River, East Coastal Rivers south of Bicheno and the South East.
