Damaging winds developing over central and eastern Tasmania during Thursday.

Weather Situation: An approaching cold front will produce vigorous north to northwesterly winds over central and eastern parts of the state during Thursday. The cold front will move into the Tasman Sea by late Thursday evening with winds easing in its wake.

Strong northwesterly winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 100 km/h are likely over central and eastern parts of the state from Thursday morning.

Winds are expected to ease below warning thresholds during Thursday afternoon for central parts of the state, and by late Thursday evening in the east.

Locations which may be affected include St Helens, Swansea, Bicheno, Bothwell, Fingal and Tarraleah.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Supervise children closely.
* Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings.
* Manage pets and livestock.
* Secure outdoor items including furniture and play equipment.
* Be prepared in case of power outages and report any outages to TasNetworks on 132 004.
* Beware of damaged trees and power lines and take care when driving.
* Listen to the ABC radio or check www.ses.tas.gov.au for further advice.
