This Watch and Act message is being issued for Goroke, Kaniva, Lawloit, Miram South, Peronne.
There is a bushfire at Goroke, Kaniva, Lawloit, Miram South, Peronne that is not yet under control.
This Watch and Act replaces the Watch and Act issued at 3.17pm today, due to increased fire activity and unpredictable winds caused by storms.
Fire crews continue to work on building containment line and supressing fire activity.
The situation can change at any time. You must monitor conditions and be ready to act.
What you should do:
Monitor changes to the situation. Increased wind speed, change in wind direction, smoke or poor visibility can indicate the situation is changing.
Enact your fire survival plan.
If you do not have a plan, decide what you will do if the situation changes.
If you have time, check your neighbours to see if they are monitoring conditions.
Protect yourself and your family.
Leave if the situation changes or you feel unsafe.
Remember to:
Take your pets, medications, mobile phone and charger.
Many people have died trying to leave at the last minute during fires.
Travel to the home of family or friends that are away from the warning area or to the Relief Centre at Edenhope and District Community Centre located at 76 Elizabeth Street, Edenhope.

Members of the community are invited to attend the Goroke Community Meeting held 6pm Tuesday 4 February at Goroke & District Memorial Hall - 27 Main St, Goroke VIC 3412.

Impacts in your area:
The Kaniva-Edenhope Road between Western Hwy and Natimuk-Frances Rd is closed.
Check the VicTraffic website (www.traffic.transport.vic.gov.au) or call 13 11 70 for road closures.
Bushfires can spread quickly and are extremely dangerous.
Smoke:
Your nose is an excellent smoke detector. If you can smell smoke, take the necessary precautions to protect your health. You can self-assess the air quality near you using https://www.epa.vic.gov.au/for-community/environmental-information/air-quality/smoke/smoke-your-health.Take action to reduce your exposure to smoke and protect your health: Everyone should minimise the time spent in smoky conditions whenever practical to do so.
People over 65 years, children 14 years and younger, pregnant women and those with existing heart or lung conditions, should reduce prolonged or heavy physical activity. Where possible (and not under direct threat from fires), also limit the time spent outdoors and when indoors, close windows and doors. If there is a break in smoky conditions, open the windows and air out your home.
Anyone with a heart or lung condition should take their medication as prescribed. People with asthma should follow their personal asthma action plan, continue to take preventer medication as prescribed and keep reliever medication on hand.
If you or anyone in your care is worried about symptoms, seek medical advice or call Nurse on Call on 1300 60 60 24.Anyone experiencing difficulty breathing or tightness in the chest should seek urgent medical assistance and call Triple Zero (000).
