MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE FROM TUESDAY MORNING

A trough and cold front is forecast to enter western Victoria on Tuesday morning, reaching central districts during the early afternoon before crossing eastern Victoria during the evening.

Widespread showers, thunderstorms and possible rain areas are forecast to affect the Flood Watch area from early Tuesday morning.

Daily rainfall totals of 40-60 mm, with isolated totals of up to 100 mm are possible over the higher slopes of the Flood Watch area.

Catchments in the Flood Watch area are relatively wet after recent rainfall. River and creek levels are elevated within some of the catchments.

River and creek level rises are likely, with areas of minor flooding possible across the Flood Watch area from Tuesday morning.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

Upper Murray and Mitta Mitta Rivers

Ovens and King Rivers

Seven and Castle Creeks

A minor flood warning is current for the Kiewa River catchment.

The Bureau of Meteorology is continuing to monitor the situation and will issue catchment specific warnings as required.

Never walk, ride or drive through floodwater, Never allow children to play in floodwater, Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains during and after heavy rain, Keep well clear of fallen power lines Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks, and heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads.
