South East Coastal and Central West districts.
Issued at 3:49 am Wednesday, 29 May 2024.
Damaging winds over southern and southwestern coastal areas today,
including Perth.
Weather Situation: A deepening low over the Southern Ocean will
extend a vigorous west to southwesterly airstream over the
southwest of the state this morning, bringing gusty showers and
thunderstorms to exposed coastal areas and nearby inland areas,
including the broader Perth area. These conditions should then
shift to the Esperance Coast later in the day as the low progresses
to the east.
DAMAGING WEST TO SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with
peak gusts to around 100 km/h are possible over the southern
Central West, Lower West and South West early this morning,
spreading to the coast west of Albany during the remainder of the
morning. DAMAGING WINDS should then ease in these areas by early
afternoon, before shifting to the Esperance Coast during the
afternoon and finally easing later in the evening.
Locations which may be affected include Bunbury, Busselton,
Esperance, Mandurah, Margaret River and Perth.
Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Great Southern
