MINOR TO MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE IN THE HAWKESBURY NEPEAN RIVER
FROM LATE FRIDAY
MINOR TO MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE ACROSS PARTS OF THE MID NORTH
COAST, GREATER SYDNEY REGION, SOUTH COAST AND NORTH WEST
A coastal trough is forecast to deepen and potentially develop
into a low pressure system between Friday and Saturday. The trough
is forecast to move towards the south coast by late Saturday
bringing widespread rainfall. This rainfall has the potential to
cause minor to moderate flooding along parts of the Mid North
Coast, Wollombi Brook, Sydney region, South Coast and parts of the
North West from early Saturday. Minor to Major flooding is also
possible along the Hawkesbury Nepean River from late Friday.
Catchments are relatively wet in the north and average to dry
around Sydney and the South Coast.
The weather system may cause flooding for the catchments listed
from Friday into the weekend. Flood Classes (minor, moderate,
major) are only defined for catchments where the Bureau provides a
flood warning service.

and streams must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings
and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding
develop.
Flood Warnings will be issued if Minor Flood Level is expected to
be exceeded at key sites along the main rivers for which the Bureau
of Meteorology provides a flood warning service.
Severe Weather Warnings will be issued or updated if very heavy
rain is forecast or observed.
