Damaging wind gusts expected with a vigorous front over the
southeast during today.
Weather Situation: Strong north to northwesterly winds are
expected ahead of a vigorous cold front tracking through the south
of the state during the morning. Winds are expected to shift
westerly in its wake, with conditions easing in the
afternoon.
Strong north to northwesterly winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with
DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 90 km/h are possible about the far
southeast of the state.
Winds are expected to ease below warning thresholds by the
evening.
Locations which may be affected include Jervois and Simpson
District east of Finke.
93 km/h wind gust was recorded at Alice Springs at 4 am.
The Northern Territory Emergency Service advises that people
should:
* secure loose outside objects and seek shelter when conditions
deteriorate
* ensure pets and animals are safe
* be prepared in case of power outages, have an emergency kit with
a radio, torch, spare batteries and first aid kit
* for emergency help in floods, storms and cyclones, contact the
