MINOR TO MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE ACROSS CATCHMENTS FROM
CAPRICORNIA TO WIDE BAY BURNETT, INCLUDING ADJACENT INLAND
CATCHMENTS
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Koji is currently located over the Northern
Goldfields and Upper Flinders district, weakening as it continues
slowly tracking northwesterly over land. The system is bringing
moist onshore flow to its south. Heavy rainfall is forecast for the
remainder of Monday and into Tuesday along the central Queensland
coast and adjacent inland areas. These catchments are wet to
saturated following recent heavy rainfall and rapid and dangerous
river level rises are likely.
Heavy rainfall is also possible further into the Wide Bay and
Burnett and parts of the Central Highlands and Goldfields over the
next two days. These catchments are drier and may take longer to
respond to rainfall.
A Severe Weather Warning for heavy rainfall is current for parts
of the Flood Watch area. A separate Initial Flood Watch is current
for the Gulf Country and parts of Western Queensland and the Cape
York Peninsula.
Catchments likely to be affected include:
Connors, Isaac and Styx Rivers and Plane Creek (Warning current
for the Connors and Isaac Rivers)
Comet and Nogoa Rivers
Dawson and Don Rivers
Mackenzie and Fitzroy Rivers and Shoalwater and Water Park Creeks
(Warning current for the Fitzroy and Mackenzie Rivers)
Calliope River
Boyne River
Baffle Creek
Kolan River
Burnett River
Burrum and Cherwell Rivers
Mary River
Barcoo River (Also included in Flood Watch for the Gulf Country
and parts of Western Queensland and Cape York Peninsula)
Flood warnings are current for the following catchment(s) :
Herbert, Belyando and Suttor to Burdekin Falls Dam, Cape to
Burdekin Falls Dam, Burdekin River, Connors and Isaac, Fitzroy and
Mackenzie, lower Flinders, Norman, Georgina and Eyre, Diamantina
and Thomson
