Heavy rainfall about southeast Queensland north of Brisbane.
Weather Situation: Heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms are
developing on a southeasterly change about the far southeast this
afternoon.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may
lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several
hours. Locations which may be affected include Maroochydore,
Caboolture, Kilcoy, Caloundra, Nambour and Woodford.
65 MM OF RAINFALL WAS RECORDED AT JINGLE DOWNS IN THE 30 MINUTES
TO 2:21 PM.
49 mm of rainfall was recorded at Drapers Crossing in the 30
minutes to 2:45 pm.
76 mm of rainfall was recorded at Greenbank in the 1 hour to
2:27pm.
61 mm of rainfall was recorded at Oxley Creek in the 1 hour to
2:23pm.
64 mm of rainfall was recorded at Park Ridge in the 1 hour to
1:56pm.
Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger
asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes
out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be
identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are
dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has
passed.
