For people in parts of North West Pastoral district.

Issued at 8:13 pm Monday, 17 February 2025.

Severe thunderstorms are moving into far northwestern parts of the state.

Weather Situation: A warm and unstable airmass combined with the additional tropical moisture from ex-TC Zelia has caused severe thunderstorms to develop over eastern parts of West Australia in the afternoon and early evening. These storms are moving to the southeast, towards South Australia, and are expected to affect far northwestern parts of the state during the evening.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include parts of the Great Victoria Desert.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Move cars under cover or away from trees.
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby.
