Severe thunderstorms with heavy rainfall continue to the north of
Brisbane.
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 7:00 pm, severe
thunderstorms likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to
flash flooding were detected near Caboolture, the area northeast of
Kingaroy, the Amamoor Range northwest of Kenilworth and Deception
Bay waters. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to
northeast. They are forecast to affect the area southwest of
Gympie, Kandanga and Amamoor by 7:30 pm and the area south of
Gympie, the ranges between Gympie and Murgon and Pomona by 8:00
pm.
61.0 mm was recorded in 1 hour to 5:50 pm at Wacol.
48.0 mm was recorded in 30 minutes to 5:18 pm at Moggill.
59.0 mm was recorded in 30 minutes to 3:44 pm at Mt
Petersen.
69.0 mm was recorded in 1 hour to 3:29 pm at Boonah
Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger
asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes
out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be
identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are
dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has
passed.
