RIVER LEVEL RISES AND AREAS OF MINOR FLOODING MAY DEVELOP FROM LATE SUNDAY

A ridge over Victoria will direct westerly flow over Tasmania for the next few days. A cold front embedded in the westerlies moves over the Flood Watch area on Sunday evening.

Catchments in the flood watch area are wet.

Showers will continue in the west during Saturday and extend statewide during Sunday.

In the 48 hours to 11:00 am Saturday, widespread rainfall totals of 30 - 50 mm have been recorded across the Flood Watch area.

Daily rainfall totals of 5 - 15 mm are forecast for the Flood Watch area during Saturday and 20 - 50 mm on Sunday.

River level rises are possible and minor flooding may develop across the Flood Watch area from late Sunday.

Flood Warnings are current for the Mersey, Meander, North Esk, South Esk, Macquarie and Derwent catchments.

River levels remain elevated across the Flood Watch area and strong flows will remain a hazard for the coming days.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

Forth River
Northwest and Central Coastal Rivers
Arthur River
Nelson Bay Coastal Rivers
Pieman River
King-Henty Rivers
Huon River
